Amazon Fire TV – Softwareupdate mit neuer Oberfläche steht bevor

Vor kurzem hat Amazon in den USA einen neuen Fire TV Stick mit einer besseren CPU und Alexa an Bord vorgestellt. Mit der neuen Hardware wird Amazon nun auch endlich etwas an der Software machen. Wir haben schon ein paar Screenshots der neuen Oberfläche für euch.

Der Amazon Fire TV und der dazugehörige Stick gehören mit zu dem besten, was man im Moment in der Kategorie Streaming kaufen kann. Mit der 4k Unterstützung hebt sich der Fire TV auch von dem Apple TV ab, der “nur” Full HD unterstützt. Wo die Set-Top Box von Apple aber deutlich Vorsprung hat ist die Software. Die ist meiner Meinung nach auf der Amazon Box wirklich suboptimal. Serien erscheinen redundant auf dem Bildschirm, weil jede Staffel extra angezeigt wird und alles ist irgendwie durcheinander und ein einziges Wirrwarr. Diesen Punkt versucht Amazon nun mit einer aufgeräumten Oberfläche zu beheben.

Der Look geht mehr in Richtung Netflix und man sieht wesentlich besser, was interessant ist und was nicht. Außerdem erscheinen die Serien nun nur noch einmal und darunter finden sich die Staffeln mit den einzelnen Folgen.

Wenn es Amazon wirklich schafft, die groben Schnitzer abzustellen und dann auch noch Alexa mit an Bord ist, dann hat man ein richtiges Pfund am Streaming-Markt. Das Update soll bis Ende des Jahres ausgeliefert werden. Wir halten euch auf dem Laufenden sobald sich hier etwas tut.

Fire TV will present a cinematic experience, offering video trailers and content screenshots to help customers access the content they want more quickly – without the need to open and close multiple apps. Finding and enjoying apps and games will be easier too with new support for a customizable apps list on the home screen. Accessibility improvements will also be included, allowing customers to use Fire TV and any compatible apps with the VoiceView screen reader. These features will be available for all Fire TV customers as a free, over-the-air update, starting with the new Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and latest generation Fire TV later this year.

The all-new Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote is available for pre-order beginning today for $39.99 at www.amazon.com/fire-tv-stick and will start shipping to customers on October 20. Eligible customers who purchase online or from a participating retailer and activate their device by October 31 will also receive a free content bundle. This limited-time offer includes one month of Sling TV and two months of Hulu (Limited Commercials) for new subscribers, and a $10 credit for Amazon Video – a value of up to $65.
